Vineyard
Grown at the foot of the ANdes
In Mendoza’s Uco Valley, our high-altitude vineyard is located at 3,600 feet of elevation, in the foothills of the snow-peaked Andes. Our winegrowing subappellation is the prestigious IG, or Indicación Geografica, Los Chacayes. Situated on an alluvial fan, or ancient riverbed, Los Chacayes is notable for its gravelly, rocky soils, which make for characterful wines, notable for their powerful tannins and fresh acidity.

High-Elevation Terroir
In this environment, the climate is forceful, with high summer temperatures and freezing winters that contribute to the bold flavors of our fruit. Due to the quality of our terroir, fruit not used in our own winemaking is sold to other prestigious Argentine producers. Our barrels come from vineyard blocks that are painstakingly pruned and managed, intentionally limiting our yields in order to drive quality.
Mountain Splendor
This venture is driven not so much by our desire to make wine as it is by our stewardship of Hawthorn Vineyard. It takes us a full 24 hours to travel there. When we arrive, we are overcome by a profound respect for the beauty of our planet. As our children fish and ride horseback in the shadow of the Andes, we feel grateful for this magnificent place.
